I love this ridiculously awesome smoothie in the morning after my lemon-water and tea. It’s great as an afternoon pick-me-up as well.

There are a few great things about this drink besides how delicious it tastes. By combining satsuma and spinach you utilize the satsuma’s vitamin C to enhance your body’s ability to absorb that same iron and Voila – that spinach and satsuma are perfect together!

Next, pineapple is an anti-inflammatory that we love, and can’t get enough of in our diet. And finally, ginger is an age-old, anti-bacterial herb that is good for so many things, including it’s anti-inflammatory properties, pain relief, promotion of circulation, and is often consumed as a digestive tonic. Take a look at my personal recipe:

  • 2 handfuls of baby spinach
  • 1/2 cup fresh-or-frozen pineapple
  • 5 ice cubes
  • 1 satsuma
  • 1 cup water
  • 1-2 Tablespoons chopped fresh-ginger

Blend in a high-speed blender till smooth and creamy. Adjust the taste by tinkering with the ginger and orange. If you want this smoothie a touch sweeter add 1-2 dates or a touch of honey – but please try it as-is first.
